CJ Ballard Band was formed in 2015 with founding members CJ Ballard (vocal/Guitar/harmonica) and Chris Jordan (Drums/vocal) added some old friends to do a new thing. Their hope was to showcase the music and not the individuals.
Previous line ups under other names never seem to click, but when they invited some lifelong friends to join the chemistry exploded!!! When (lead guitarist/vocal) Frankie Baguess and (rhythm&lead guitarist/vocal) Gary Foster came on board, it was apparent to all that something special was happening. With the final addition of (bassist/vocal) “Little Stevie Blueshoes” the band and relationships now had nearly 20 experience even though this line up was newly formed.
Since establishing this all-star line that has a lot of the venues where they appear saying
(Best Band We’ve Ever Had!!) The guys have noted some very cool appearances.
Having had opening spots for national acts such as (Jarrod Neimann, Southern Culture On The Skids) and more!! Playing all over the southeast venue circuit and notable festivals like (Gas Light Festival, Central Bike Fest, Apple festival and headlining the Prohibition Hot Rod and Moonshine Festival) where attendance is in the thousands, the CJBB has made it’s own brand of (southern fried rock&soul) a highly sought after product.
Their original material continues to hold the #1 spot on Reverbnation in their region. The guys pride themselves on tight vocal harmonies, great guitar tones and exceptional musicianship!!! If you have lost interest in live music do yourself a favor and give it one more try with the CJ Ballard Band!!!
Coming from a musical background, C.J. Ballard has always enjoyed creating heart felt music. With a little help from his uncle, he wrote his first song which was published in the local news paper at age 8. From there his love of writing only grew, and as he began to play guitar more, the melody and composition came easier.
Over a ten year period, C.J. was a part of several bands and in 2004 became the worship leader at CrossFire UMC. That is where the Lord began to use and mold him to the person and artist he is today. Seeing a need, he brings the gospel in a real everyday style that gives him a unique platform.
A “no frills” approach has opened a new door that with the grace of God C.J. Ballard and the Thirteenth Tribe can minister to the next wave of true believers.
